Serving global comfort food since 2008. Founded by Chef Donnie Masterton, The Restaurant is housed in one of San Miguel’s most elegantly colonial settings at Sollano 16. It is located just steps away from the main square of San Miguel de Allende, the prettiest and most restored/written-about Colonial city in all of Mexico. Offering a full bar, it serves lunch and dinner six days a week in a sun-dappled eighteenth-century Moroccan courtyard, as well as in our elegant dining salon.

The Chef

Donnie Masterton began his culinary journey at the age of 15 under Chef David Bouley in New York and later mentored under Patrick Clark from 19 to 27. Masterton excelled as Chef de Cuisine at prestigious venues like Bice and Tavern on the Green, before opening Azie in the Bay Area to critical acclaim. He later joined Patina Group’s Hollywood Bowl. 

In 2005, Masterton fulfilled his dream of a simpler life by moving to San Miguel de Allende. There, his passion for food and wine blossomed into The Restaurant. Dedicated to quality, he sources from local farmers, ranchers, and artisans, preparing ingredients with skill, respect, and simplicity, defining his vision of world-class comfort food. Read more…

THE CHEF
